Discussion:
Freeware resource editor?
(too old to reply)

I'm searching for a graphical resource editor. I found out that
Weditres requires at least VIDE (something else too?) and doesn't
run stand-alone. Other two editors I know are Borland Resource
Workshop and Restuner, both of them are not freeware. I'm using
DevC++ 4 which has a text editor for resource files and it's quite
difficult to create resources, because you have to change something,
then compile and run, then change etc...

Not true, and at least I do not know what VIDE should be.

Loading .rc failed and I guess it has something to do
with VIDE, because the thing is called "Weditres for VIDE".

From where did you download that stuff?

You don't need VIDE to use WEditRes (as the OP might have already figured
out) - type it in in google and "feel lucky" and you should be able to
download it - agian, you do not need VIDE.

Why Weditres can't load my .rc then?
ResHacker doesn't load .rc's either, but extracts resources
directly from the exe and you can edit only existing resources.

Well with what did you write that .rc file?

I can't tell from here, are you sure it's syntax is correct? If you post a
copy, I'll try it on my own version of WEditRes. Do you get any errors when
starting up WEditRes or when loading the resource script?

Good luck,

ResEdit is a good free visual resource editor.
What is the homepage of this program or where can I download it?
Searching with Google was quite amusing, because I found ResEdit
for Mac and Linux, but not for Windows. Can't be this hard.

ResourceHacker is also a good one, and free.
